Title:  Front-End Software Engineer


Reports To:  Director of Software Engineering

 

Job Summary

The candidate will be responsible for building an enterprise-scale software application written primarily in PHP and based on the Moodle open source project.  You will be expected to work within an agile software development framework and have great communication and technical skills.  You’ll be asked to primarily work on front-end initiatives as well as some backend engineering, adhere to and recommend coding standards, and perform other similar duties that a software engineer commonly performs within a corporate environment.

Essential Job Functions

  • Expert knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Experience with a variety of front-end web development frameworks (e.g. AngularJS, React, etc.)
  • Familiar with PHP and full-stack web development
  • Perform peer code reviews
  • Commit code to BitBucket using Git

Job Requirements

Requirements

  • Minimum Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar
  • Minimum of 3 years working as a front-end and/or full-stack software engineer
  • Minimum of 2 years PHP programming experience
  • Solid front-end engineering skills
  • Experience working in an agile/SCRUM environment
  • Ability to review business requirements and deliver exceptional code quality
  • Ability to effectively communicate to various stakeholders
  • Bonus Skills
    • Moodle or similar LMS experience
    • Python programming
