Title: Manager of Business Development

Reports To: VP of Sales

Location: Remote work - Anywhere in US

Job Summary

Our Manager of Business Development leads a 20+ Business Development Partners (BDP) team whose primary role is to produce leads for field-based Client Partners. In addition, BDPs ensure data for business development is fresh and up to date. They are the primary fillers of FranklinCovey events, and they work with our marketing team to utilize marketing campaigns to generate a pipeline.

Essential Functions

  • Recruiting, training, and development of BDPs.
  • Conducting regular team meetings, including the creation of scoreboards highlighting team’s results and celebrations of success.
  • Conducting individual 1:1s targeted at increasing performance, setting goals, and celebrating each individual.
  • Aligning strategies and growth targets with Managing Directors of US and Canada Client Partners.
  • Evaluation and evolution of the current systems, processes, and resources used by the team, including ownership of vendor relationships and contracts.
  • Ancillary ownership of ongoing marketing tasks that help increase the Marketing, Sales, and Bus Dev alignment.
  • Developing an in-depth knowledge of content and offerings to identify BDP marketing opportunities and prepare marketing verbiage, scripts, and templates.

  • Act autonomously with limited oversight handling multiple tasks with excellence.
  • Take lead on RFP and RFQs for the company, deciding when to respond and allocating resources as needed.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, growth environment.
  • Manage complex projects, be proactive, and handle uncertainty.

Additional Experience

  • 3-5 years in leading and building top-performing Business Development teams.
  • 3-5 years of sales experience inside or field-based sales roles.
  • Experience in Marketing and working with Marketing teams.
  • History of performance management.
  • High-level knowledge of Salesforce and Microsoft Suite.
  • High technical ability to learn and maximize new platforms.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and contracts.
