Title: Managing Director
Reports to:  Sales
Location: Anywhere in the US or Canada

Job Summary
Major functions of the Managing Director role include leading a sales team of 8-12 Client Partners, help win business and accelerate revenue growth, ongoing coaching and mentoring of Client Partners in sales process and reporting.  This is a Senior Leadership role which requires strong business acumen and extensive leadership experience. Through training, this individual will acquire expertise on Franklin Covey offerings including All Access Pass (AAP), our core solution for organizations to partner with FranklinCovey. 

Essential Job Functions

  • Supports and leads company strategy with the mindset of a leadership team member (as opposed to an individual contributor mindset)—AAP, FTF, 3x Pipeline, Closing, Company Strategy, Policy
  • Develop Client Partners to improve their skills in selling value, positively differentiating our service offering
  • Helps client partners to build a strategic business plan and close large opportunities
  • Deliver results focused on revenue growth and expansion
  • Collaborates with other Managing Directors, Operations Teams, Marketing Teams and Post-Sales Teams to ensure flawless execution and a collaborative culture.
  • Manage the team's Key Performance Indicators including New Logo Goals, 3x-4x Pipeline, Closing ratios, New Logo meetings, Annual Business Reviews, Quarterly Business Reviews, Services Attachment and Expansion rates.
  • Serves as the escalation manager for all negotiations with existing customers including contracts and pricing.
  • Serves as a dotted line manager to support roles including Implementation Specialists, Business Development Partners, Customer Engagement Reps and Regional Practice Leaders.
  • Hires and recruits Client Partners and Execution and Sales Transformation Client Partners
  • Directs the completion of onboarding and ramp achievement
  • Sets clear visions and result expectations, and manages by unleashing talent through coaching, development, celebration, and performance management
  • Understands promotional levers, company resources available, revenue recognition and other public company policies, and makes margin-based choices
  • Supplies accurate weekly forecasts to Senior Leadership

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience, plus a minimum of five years senior level sales leadership experience with field sales reps required. Industry experience is a plus.
  • Proven track record managing 10-25 million dollars in annual revenue
  • Proven track record of leading, coaching, and developing an outside sales team that consistently meets and exceeds company targets.
  • Direct outside sales experience with a proven track record of success
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Analytical and strategic thinking skills
  • The ability to build and maintain a positive culture to inspire and engage employees
  • Proven track record in managing change


This position requires exceptional interpersonal and verbal communication skills, and experience with preferred. Must be a motivated leader with a strong work ethic, leadership and people development competencies with the ability to work in a fast-paced growth environment.  Strongly prefer knowledge and experience in the professional services environment.
