Job Summary

As a Product Marketing Manager for the Platform team, you will help validate and launch new products and technological innovations to both FranklinCovey’s existing 1,700 clients and 2,000,000+ learners and new potential clients. You will lead the product validation and launch process, developing strategic plans and implementing them alongside product, engineering, corporate marketing, sales enablement, customer success, operations and more. 

 

Role Context

Historically FranklinCovey primarily offered in-person, event-based training. Five years ago FC launched the All Access Pass (AAP), an online subscription product where clients and learners could access all of FC’s solutions at once. AAP revenue has grown from $0 - $100MM+ in the last five years, making it the among the fastest growing products in edtech history. The company is now doubling down on its product-driven approach, acquiring Strive, an online learning platform used by Slack, Pinterest and others, and doubling the Platform (product, design, engineering, data) team in 2022. You will be the first (and, for now, the sole) PMM supporting the Platform team, helping validate and launch innovative, impactful learning products to an audience that’s four times as large as all US business schools combined!

Given that, you’ll be able to define product marketing strategy and lead the implementation/execution (partnering with enterprise marketing to push campaigns live). Unlike a startup, FC is an established (and profitable!) publicly traded company, so you won't have sleepless nights fretting about the next funding round (or lack thereof).

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Product Validation
    • Serve as the “voice of the client/user” in Product Development planning, ensuring we prioritize building what our clients and learners want and need
    • Partner with the Platform PMs, engineering leadership and Product Operations to develop a strategy and plan for alpha, beta and limited launch tests
    • Partner with Sales and Customer Success to recruit pilot customers, developing early messaging and collateral
    • Manage pilots, partnering with Product and Design to collect learner/client feedback and shape the roadmap for full launches and future product development
  • Product Launch
    • Partner with the Platform PMs, engineering leadership and Product Operations to clearly understand product functionality and develop strategic positioning (relative to the existing product suite and competitive landscape) for new products
    • Translate strategic positioning into internal (sales, CS, ops) and external (client, learner) facing materials (slide decks, slip sheets, case studies, blog posts, launch videos, white papers, etc)
    • Partner with Marketing Communications team to implement awareness-building strategy (online ads, webinars, events, etc)
    • Partner with product, sales, CS leadership and data analysts to track adoption and activation for new launches, iterating on strategy and approach accordingly

Job Requirements

  • Background
    • 5-8 years in marketing broadly and 2-5 years in Product Marketing specifically (years of experience ≠ ability, so this is a proxy but not a hard requirement)
    • Experience working at a fast-paced startup preferred but not required
    • Experience working at an edtech or HRtech company preferred but not required
  • Skills
    • Strategic thinking & analytical ability – ability to both develop strategic plans and think strategically in day-to-day decisions
    • Clear, compelling communication – both in written / verbal interpersonal communication and broader marketing messaging
    • Project management – ability to move from 30k foot strategic plan to day-to-day execution with strong attention to detail and conscientiousness
    • Cross-functional collaboration – ability to work productively with teammates from varying backgrounds (sales, product, customer success, operations)
    • Growth mindset – ability to seek and provide feedback and turn feedback into action / improved performance
    • Leadership potential – this role will start out as an individual contributor with potential for direct report(s) in 6-12 months
