Title: Project Manager, Proposal Writer

Location: Remote – Anywhere in the US


Job Summary

We are looking for a Proposal Writer to join our Education team. The primary role of the Proposal Writer is to strategically and competitively position Leader in Me and FranklinCovey Education products and services by preparing responses to Request For Proposals (RFPs) along with supporting internal teams by writing and finalizing proposal submissions for large deals.

The Proposal Writer will gather information from existing RFPs, documentation and technical experts within the company, write a draft response, obtain approvals and finally submit the proposal and supporting documents to the requester. They will manage and oversee the lifecycle of drafting/submitting proposals which includes proactively acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of multiple teams.

The ideal candidate has a strong background and understanding of business process management, experience drafting proposals, coupled with strong writing skills. The ideal candidate should have good time and project management skills to ensure that proposals are submitted accurately, meeting high quality standards and strict deadlines. The ideal candidate exhibits a high degree of initiative, organization, and self-direction.


Essential Job Functions

  • Determine proposal requirements by identifying and clarifying objectives within the RFPs.
  • Gather proposal information by identifying sources of information and coordinating with key providers, and other internal contributors, for additional information if needed.
  • Produce quality responses to RFPs by following proposal-writing standards including readability, consistency, and tone.
  • Obtain approvals and submit completed proposal to the requester – often under very tight deadlines
  • Establish priorities and target dates to ensure the proposals are submitted on time.
  • Maintain records of all proposals submitted and received.
  • Gather and store feedback on proposals to help improve proposal content and process.
  • Serves as a key initiator to write/review large deal proposals and coordinate with other teams to ensure accuracy of composition and format ensuring compliance with proposal requirements.
  • Maintain an updated boiler plate, including executive summaries, past performance/qualification summaries, overviews of products and services, and resumes using a variety of resources including our standard/core database, marketing collateral, company web sites, and other various resources.
  • Create, organize, and maintain a proposal digital library including boilerplate material inventory, bid opportunities, and proposal wins/losses.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Position requires a BA/BS plus a minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in education and/or proposal/grant writing
  • The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial individual who takes initiative, responsibility, and has excellent writing skills.
  • Organization skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure and multitask in a dynamic environment working under tight deadlines are required.
  • High proficiency in advanced features of MS Word with knowledge of other software tools such as Adobe Acrobat DC, Microsoft Teams, and Google Docs.
  • A basic understanding of graphic design and experience working with multiple document and picture formats - .pdf, .jpeg, .doc, .csv, .bmp
  • Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in making pragmatic decisions that impact stakeholders.
  • Ability to work with multiple internal teams and provide succinct direction to prioritize everyone’s time.
  • Strong critical thinking ability.
  • Ability to work independently – self-motivated and self-directed.
  • Ability to manage deadlines efficiently.
  • Very strong verbal and written communication skills are essential; must be able to create and deliver compelling and polished proposals.
  • Experience soliciting educational business and writing proposals within the training and consulting space is considered a plus.
