Job Summary

We are looking for a Researcher/Senior Researcher to join the FranklinCovey Institute, a newly established thought leadership arm of FranklinCovey. The primary role of this position is to generate industry shaping, original research in four key areas where FranklinCovey serves its clients. These include Leadership, Personal Effectiveness, Culture and Organizational Performance, and organizational systems for achieving important Strategic Goals. FranklinCovey focuses on helping organizations achieve results that require a collective, large-scale changes in human behavior and our global solutions are based on timeless principles and proven frameworks of human effectiveness. The research should be rigorous and meet high professional standards while focusing on the practical implications that will help individuals, leaders, and organizations become better.


The ideal candidate has a strong background in conducting primary and secondary research across multiple industries and organizations. This person should have a high level of business acumen, a solid background in both qualitative and quantitative analysis, and great interviewing skills. The candidate should have strong writing and presentation skills and will be able to produce research reports and written case studies that are suitable for publication. This person will be able to collaborate well across the organization as well as with external clients and research partners. The candidate should be able to direct the work of external vendors and partners and represent the company credibly in a variety of settings. A Researcher/Senior Researcher should have extreme curiosity, a high level of intellectual breadth and agility, a penchant for detail, appropriate discretion, and the ability to synthesize a large amount of data and boil it down to the essential and relevant facts and ideas while continually remaining open to new insights and ideas. This person should have a high degree of initiative, organization, self-direction, and follow-through to meet commitments, goals, and deadlines. The candidate should have unquestioned integrity, be both assertive and intellectually humble, have a collaborative and entrepreneurial spirit, and seek to contribute to and build the overall strength of the FranklinCovey Institute and the Market and Customer Intelligence team.


Essential Job Functions

  • Generate insightful, original research that challenges current thinking and provokes positive change.
  • Produce high quality written reports that are suitable for publication and be able to present findings to internal and external audiences.
  • Conduct interviews with people at all levels of an organization—senior leaders through the shop floor.
  • Design surveys, gather data, and identify key findings.
  • Share thinking and collaborate with other researchers and leaders at FranklinCovey.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • 7+ years in business consulting/business research roles.
  • Strong business acumen and quantitative skills
  • Strong understanding of research methods, survey design, and relevant statistical approaches.
  • Ability to synthesize a large amount of data and boil it down to the essential ideas, relevant facts, and practical implications.
  • Produce high quality written reports that are suitable for publication and be able to present findings to internal and external audiences, including client events.
  • Great interpersonal skills. Able to establish trust and conduct insightful interviews with key clients and others.
  • A strong collaborator who can confidently articulate personal opinions but who also enjoys listening to and engaging with others to learn, expand thinking, and create new ideas together.
  • Research areas include Leadership, Personal Effectiveness, Culture and Organizational Performance, organizational systems for achieving important Strategic Goals.
  • Understand the power of ideas and a strong desire to produce industry shaping research and thought pieces that will help leaders and individuals improve their performance and that will make the world a better place.
  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. preferred in business, social science, or related fields.
