Title:  Business Development Representative

Reports to:  Senior Business Partner

Job Summary

The Business Development Representative (BDR) is a key role within the FranklinCovey Corporate Marketing Team. The primary role of the BDR is to vet leads that have been warmed up through FranklinCovey’s marketing channels and route qualified leads to sales executives to close. The BDR sets the stage for long-term, mutually beneficial business relationships by providing swift, knowledgeable guidance to clients and ensuring smooth transitions to sales executives. This role requires a basic, practical understanding of FranklinCovey’s suite of offerings and strategic implementation options. Through training, this individual will acquire deeper expertise on Franklin Covey offerings and qualification techniques.

Essential Job Functions

  • Swiftly follow up with all inbound leads within 24 hours of initial client contact. Schedule calls as appropriate.
  • Diagnose and assess client needs. Provide information on basic solution mapping and implementation options to help clients decide whether it makes sense to meet with a Sales Executive.
  • Determine potential client relationship eligibility based on qualification protocols.
  • Follow internal protocol to assign qualified leads to sales team. Make introductions to Sales Executives and schedules meetings or calls as appropriate. Provide Sales Executives with comprehensive notes on lead interactions to assist with future conversations.
  • Update and clean lead profiles to ensure accurate data.
  • Provide data and anecdotal information to assist Demand Generation/Marketing team strategy.
  • Stay up to date on sales operations, product updates/releases, and deployment strategies.

Job Requirements


We are looking for a self-starter with a problem solving, creative mind and the ability to work in a fast paced environment.

  • Client-centric mindset
  • Practical knowledge of FranklinCovey content and application preferred
  • 2-5 years of experience with account management, sales, business development, and/or customer success, preferably in a B-to-B setting
  • Learning/Training Industry or Organizational Development knowledge/background preferred
  • Experience using FranklinCovey’s Helping Clients Succeed sales methodology preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Great conversationalist with high EQ and ability to quickly uncover client needs
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environment
  • Ability to apply strategic & creative thinking to positively influence client outcomes
  • Proficient with technology (e.g. Salesforce, Zoom, PowerPoint, Excel, modern web apps)
