Title: Education Grant Writer
Reports to: General Manager

 

Job Summary

We are looking for a Grant Writer to join our Education team. The primary role of the Grant Writer is to strategically and competitively position Leader in Me and FranklinCovey Education services and prepare responses for major Federal and State grants along with working to get on all state approved and federal approved endorsed programs lists among other initiatives. This individual will be asked to work with key clients from time to time to assist them in their grant applications as well. This individual will also respond to large RFPs and complete state vendor applications from inception to delivery.

Essential Job Functions

  • Develops and submits proposals for external funds to help support the growth of Leader in Me.
  • Researches to find funding organizations whose grants match with Leader in Me.
  • Serves as a key initiator to write/review RFP responses and coordinate with technical and/or management personnel to ensure accuracy of composition and format ensuring compliance with solicitation requirements.
  • Oversee the process for submitting RFP’s - often under tight deadlines.
  • Write various proposal sections, including executive summaries, past performance/qualification summaries, and resumes using a variety of resources including our standard/core database, marketing collateral, company web sites, and other various resources.
  • Strategically identify, qualify, and ultimately win major impact contract awards.
  • Understand strategic, business, and market planning in the education marketplace.
  • Formalize and establish business objectives, data gathering, analysis, prioritization, and action planning as the process relates to responding to major education proposal contract requests.
  • Develop, coordinate, and disseminate proposal documents including coordination and production of written and oral response presentations.
  • Assist in maintaining proposal library – both hard copy and electronic including boilerplate material inventory, bid opportunities, and proposal wins/losses.
  • Gather documentation and fulfill the necessary requirements of various funding bodies to formally seek funding on behalf of their agency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Position requires a BA/BS plus a minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in education and/or proposal/grant writing with a successful track record of winning.
  • The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial individual with excellent writing skills and the ability to identify new business opportunities with education accounts.
  • High proficiency in advanced features of MS Word with knowledge of other software tools such as MS PowerPoint, MS Project, MS Excel, and Visio is essential.
  • Experience soliciting educational business and writing proposals within the training and consulting space is considered a plus.
  • Organization skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure and multitask in a dynamic environment working under tight deadlines are required.
  • A well-developed pattern of achievement, competitive skills, energy, motivation, enthusiasm, and integrity is critical to success in this role.
  • Very strong verbal and written communication skills are essential; must be able to create and deliver compelling, polished sales presentations and proposals to senior leaders.
