Title:  Senior Accountant
Reports to:  Director of Finance

Job Summary

We have an excellent opportunity for a full-time Senior Financial Accountant position at FranklinCovey reporting to the Director of Finance for the US/Canada/Government division.  The Senior Accountant will primarily be responsible for financial reporting and analysis of key metrics and operating results, forecasting, and accounting support. Your analysis and insights will be relied upon to guide key strategic decisions and investments for the company.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Accounting Functions (20%) – Assist with month-end accounting close (journal entries, monthly accruals, account reconciliations, audits, etc.).
  2. Financial Modeling (20%) – Prepare and analyze financial reports and dashboards with key metrics and performance indicators for sales team and sales leaders.
  3. Monthly Reporting Package (20%) – Prepare variance analysis of operational results (actual versus prior year and plan) and identify issues and opportunities to improve profitability.
  4. Forecasting (10%) – Assist with preparation and submission of weekly forecast.
  5. Expense Review (10%) – Review and approve employee expenses ensuring adherence to company policy.
  6. Compensation (10%) – Prepare incentive and commission calculations, and monthly accruals related to incentives.
  7. Project Support and Ad Hoc Requests (10%) – Perform additional financial analysis for special or ad-hoc projects as needed

 

Job Requirements

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor degree in Accounting or equivalent experience (CPA preferred)
  2. 3-5 years of experience in Accounting/Finance
  3. Advanced MS Excel skills and ability to quickly learn new technical systems
  4. High degree of accuracy, attention to detail, organization, and accountability
  5. Proactive personality that drives continual process improvement
  6. Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and analytical skills
